Kohler is world famous for its beautiful, innovative kitchen and bathroom fixtures. And as of last week, Kohler is blogger famous for its "Kohler Bloggers Conference," which brought in more than 20 of the most important and influential design blogs to the company's headquarters in Kohler, Wisconsin.
The conference served up unique opportunities for the design bloggers—a community that has become increasingly valuable as brands seek to reach new audiences through online channels. As homeowners search for design and renovation ideas online, blogs are a go-to source for inspiration – and as such, are critical collaborators for today's brands.
Bloggers spent two days with team Kohler, where they were invited to learn about Kohler through several presentations from experts in product development, sustainability, digital marketing, consumer insights, and design. Tours through the company's design center, manufacturing factory, and photography studio—the size of a Hollywood set—provided the group a "behind the scenes" view to Kohler and what makes it the truly remarkable company that it is.
Perhaps more importantly, the program enabled bloggers to share with Kohler how they like to work with companies to create original, authentic and engaging content for their readers. Bloggers truly care about their editorial voice and association with brands. Their work is personal, and it's important that they collaborate with partners that align with their personal values and design points-of-view. At Sharp, we're lucky to have built strong relationships with this group, and we were happy to have the chance for some face-to-face time, like when the gang hand decorated their own "Artist Editions" mugs with transferware.
