Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), is the world leader in musculoskeletal health and ranked No. 1 in the nation for orthopedics for the past 10 consecutive years, according to U.S. News & World Report. HSS attracts patients from all 50 states and more than 80 countries. In 2019 alone, more than 3,000 patients travelled from Florida to the HSS Manhattan campus for care -- prompting the organization to open a world-class facility in West Palm Beach.
In February 2020, Sharp Think helped open HSS Florida. The three-day event kicked off with a special evening reception for VIPs and donors inside the hospital’s expansive lobby. The following day, media and influential community members including Mayor Keith James attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening breakfast, where the mayor joined CEO Lou Shapiro and Founding Medical Director Dr. David Altchek for opening remarks and a hospital tour. The HSS opening continued with a panel discussion at The Breakers Palm Beach, which featured an in-depth discussion from five leading physicians at HSS Florida, and a special reception for patients and donors to get to know the new medical team.
Sharp secured several feature stories on the HSS opening in the Palm Beach Post, the area’s leading daily newspaper as well as a profile on Dr. Altchek in Palm Beach Illustrated, the area’s leading lifestyle magazine.
News of the opening helped spur a record number of patient appointments before the facility opened to the public.
