Summer (and Summer Fridays) might be drawing to a close, but there’s still so much to do and taste in New York City! As Sharpies, we love a summer celebration and any reason to get our grub on. Our Food PR Team knows the hottest food trends and the best places to get them. That’s why we’ve created a list of our Top 5 Summer Food Trends of 2017, so you can catch rays and treat your taste buds at the same time.

 

  • Boozy Ice Cream

You scream, we scream, we all scream for boozy ice cream! Your sweet tooth and love of happy hour will definitely scream with joy when you have boozy ice cream from Tipsy Scoop. With seasonal flavors like Frosè All Day, we suggest running over for your alcoholic scoop. (Don’t worry, they have plenty of year round flavors as well!)

  • Frozen Negronis

From Frosè to Fro-gronis (we will work on the name later), we love a good chilled drink. However in 2017, we are truly loving a frozen Negroni. Negronis include gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth and a garnish of orange, but now  imagine it frozen on a hot day. Amazing! Make your own!

  • Poké Bowls

Reasons to love these bowls: delicious, healthy, and Instagrammable. Though poké has been around for awhile in their native state of Hawaii, Sharpies have recently seen many shops popping up around NYC. Sad desk lunches are now a thing of the past! Here are some of the best places in the city according to Buzzfeed.

  • Mermaid Toast

Mermaid Toast is as pretty as a painting. Creating your own magical toast is (literally) as easy as adding food dye to cream cheese. This is so trend forward, Vogue even featured this beautiful toast on their site.

  • Taiyaka Ice Cream

The most literal translation of taiyaki is fried fish. These Korean cakes are shaped like a fish, served warm and filled with azuki sweet red bean paste. Taiyaka NYC takes this tradition and adds a modern twist with ice cream, sprinkles, and the occasional unicorn toppers. How can you say no?

Honorable Mention: Edible Cookie Dough

Cookie dough in cones? This is our childhood dream. not only has the branding your seven year-old self would love, but also the sweets you wished for. You can get a variety of classic flavors, such as sugar cookie, chocolate chip, and oatmeal M&M, or some sweet signature combinations like Fluffernutter, Confetti, and Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle. One downfall: the lines. But we would be liars to say we didn’t wait and cross the delicious finish line (see what we did there?).
