The reason for a celebration? How about 60 expanded and restored athletic fields developed to promote active, healthy lifestyles for New York City’s children. The gala attracted 400 guests, including leading city officials, philanthropists, professional athletes and health experts. Honorees included Dan Barber from Blue Hill restaurant, Robinson Cano and Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees, Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets, and co-chair of Loews Corporation, Andrew Tisch. The event was held in Manhattan at Espace, which was transformed to look like the island with large-scale aerial photography taken by Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer Vincent Laforet.
