3 Batch Cocktails for your Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is upon us and even though it marks the unofficial end of summer, it’s still a perfect reason to gather with family and friends to celebrate.  As Sharp’s unofficial resident spirits expert, I know that cocktails are as important to your Labor Day festivities as the burgers and corn you plan on grilling. When putting together your shopping list of must-haves for your weekend events, think of some summer ingredients that can help you create delicious large batch cocktails, the perfect solution for all your entertaining needs.

We’ve pulled together three easy to make batch cocktail ingredients that will make for a laborless and festive Labor Day Weekend.

Red, White and Blue Sangria – This colorful sangria recipe is festive and extremely delicious.

Ingredients: (Makes 8-10 servings)

• Strawberries, sliced
• Blueberries
• Pineapple, cut into star shapes
• 2 bottles dry white wine
• 1 cup Triple Sec
• ½ Cup berry-flavored vodka
• ½ cup fresh lemon juice
• ½ cup simple syrup

Directions:

Combine the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir. Chill in the refrigerator for at least four hours.

Cucumber Lemonade Punch – Spike your classic backyard lemonade into this easy to make punch recipe. Adding cucumber will make your drink that much more refreshing.

Ingredients: (Makes 6-8 servings)

• 4 whole lemons, halved
• ½  cup sugar
• 1 quart water
• 1 large cucumber, trimmed and sliced into thin rounds
• 3 cups gin
• Ice cubes

Directions:
Juice the lemons into a large pot and throw the bodies in there too. Add the sugar to the pot and muddle with the lemon bodies and juice for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the water and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Strain into a 3-quart pitcher and add the cucumber. Steep for 1 hour. Add 3 cups of gin and stir to combine. Serve over ice.

Ultimate Rum Punch – Rum is a great spirit to transition from summer into fall. Create this punch recipe and enjoy the last days of summer!

Ingredients: (Makes 6-8 servings)

• ¼ cup apricot brand
• ½ cup coconut rum
• ¾ cup golden rum
• ¾ cup orange juice
• 1 cup pineapple juice
• ¼ cup grapefruit juice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Pour over ice to serve. Garnish with lime slices, if desired.
